TL;DR version: Nearly 100 L4GG members are actively working on our climate change campaign, but we need more volunteers! Read below for details and click here to sign up. You can also click here to view the climate change campaign kickoff webinar.
What you need to know:
L4GG's Climate Change Campaign is up and running, with nearly 100 volunteers working to support the Sierra Club's "Ready for 100" program, which helps cities make the commitment to switch to 100% renewable energy. In light of the strong interest shown by L4GG members, and the Sierra Club's need for additional assistance, we're now expanding the program and need additional volunteers to help with important legal research.
“We are very excited for L4GG to help us better understand the types of model pathways we should advocate for to make the biggest impact. We are working with cities right now, including Boise, St. Louis, and Pueblo, Colorado, who would all benefit immediately from this type of legal assistance.” - Casey Roberts, Sierra Club’s lead attorney for the Ready for 100 Program
CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES / IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE NEEDED:
1. STATE PROFILES - 3 TEAM LEADS STILL NEEDED: We need lawyers with environmental law experience to lead research teams in Arkansas, Minnesota, and North Carolina (you do NOT need to live in one of those states in order to lead the team since the necessary research is done online). These three positions are critical for kicking off the state assignments. Click here to sign up while these positions are still available.
2. STATE PROFILES - 20 SUPPORT POSITIONS AVAILABLE: We have added 1 additional support position to each of our high-priority states to help support the existing teams and allow additional engagement. In a "support" role you will conduct online legal research with guidance from a designated team lead (team leads have environmental law experience). Sign up to help with this important effort.
3. NEW PATHWAY OPPORTUNITY - 4 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We have added a new pathway category (Municipal/Model Codes) to help answer questions that the Sierra Club has recently received from cities to help them increase renewable energy use in their jurisdiction. Click here to sign up for one of these opportunities.
From Ameren’s recent offer of a green tariff product citing St Louis’s 100% renewable commitment, to the cancelation of a new gas plant shortly after Portland’s 100% commitment - this program is making a huge impact nationwide that your legal assistance would help support immediately.

We will continue to work with the Sierra Club over the next month to identify additional volunteer opportunities, including new State Profiles, and will continue to post opportunities as they become available.
Together, we can make a huge difference in the fight against climate change.
Thank you for all that you do.
