One-year anniversary of James Comey's firing

Lawyers for Good Government (L4GG) is a non-partisan organization of more than 125,000 lawyers from across the United States. We are committed to defending our nation's highest ideals, including the core American principle that no one is above the law. For that reason, we believed it was our duty to speak out when President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey. Today, on the one-year anniversary of Comey's firing, we remain extremely concerned about Trump's ongoing threats to the rule of law in our country.

If we allow the rule of law to break down, we risk becoming an autocracy (a country governed by one person with absolute power) instead of a democracy. America was never meant to be, nor can it be allowed to become, an autocracy.

We urge every American to remain vigilant. Refuse to allow President Trump to obstruct the Special Counsel's investigation. Demand a complete accounting of any foreign interference with the 2016 election. Insist that your representatives in Congress take action to preserve the rule of law. The future of our democracy is at stake, and each of us must fight to protect it.

Lawyers for Good Government (“L4GG”) is an organization of more than 125,000 lawyers, formed in the wake of the 2016 presidential election. Our mission is to protect and strengthen democratic institutions, resist abuse of power, and defend the rights of those who suffer in the absence of good government.
