Here’s how you can help power our response

As a country, we are facing an unprecedented threat to our Constitution, democracy, and civil and human rights. We need to be ready to take swift action to protect the legitimacy of our legal systems, defend immigrant communities, safeguard reproductive freedom, and combat the rollback of environmental protections.

Lawyers for Good Government (L4GG) began scenario planning months ago, and now that we know the outcome of the election we are finalizing our response plan. But we cannot do so without knowing what resources we have and who we can count on to support our efforts in terms of time, money, and expertise.

L4GG has spent the last eight years honing our highly-impactful, quick turnaround legal programs that can launch in a manner of days to protect the most vulnerable in times of crisis:

When the “Muslim Ban” happened, we mobilized hundreds of lawyers directly to airports around the country to fight for immigrants’ rights.

When DACA was rescinded, we trained and deployed 5,400 lawyers to help thousands of Dreamers meet the renewal deadline. 1,500 of those lawyers were trained in a 72-hour period.

When the COVID-19 pandemic threatened to shut down thousands of small businesses, we worked with 932 pro bono lawyers to provide legal guidance around relief options to 2,149 small businesses and nonprofits across the U.S.

We are nimble, coordinated, and ready to face whatever threats require a large-scale legal response in the coming years. But we cannot do that without your help. The funds we receive in 2024 are crucial to planning our programs in 2025 and beyond, and we must increase capacity to meet the demands we will face over the coming years.
