2024 SLAA Leadership Program
Who is the slaa leadership program for?
The 2024 SLAA Leadership Program is for lawyers and law students who are committed to (1) engaging in legislative advocacy in their home state; and (2) helping to mobilize other lawyers and law students in their home state to achieve systemic change.
How many people can participate?
We plan to select 10 participants for the 2024 SLAA Leadership Program, utilizing an application process designed to ensure that program participants have completed the requisite training, are from geographically diverse states, have the potential to work well with our coalition partners, and are a good fit for the program.
Why should you participate and what will you receive from it?
By participating in the SLAA Leadership Program, you will receive:
High quality training and education to sharpen your legislative advocacy and organizing skills;
Regular coaching from L4GG staff and partner organizations across the country;
Early access to L4GG’s latest policy reports and new resources; and
Additional tools as needed to help you engage in policy change efforts in your home state and mobilize other L4GG members to do the same
Program participants will also be recognized with a certificate that can be included on resumes and your LinkedIn profile.
What are the requirements / expectations of participants?
You must commit to viewing:
Module 1 of the SLAA; and
Modules 9-11 by December 8, 2023.
Additionally, you must commit to:
Attending monthly coaching sessions hosted by L4GG;
Attending at least 3 educational webinars designed for L4GG members;
Monitoring legislative activity in your home state;
Identifying an advocacy effort in your home state to support and working with an organization, coalition, or other group to help advance that effort; and
Using the L4GG app to raise awareness about public policy developments in your home state, including opportunities to take action, and to share resources that will help other L4GG members become agents of change in your home state
HOW MUCH TIME WILL YOU NEED TO COMMIT?
On average, you should expect to devote 1 hour per week to the program; however, there will be flexibility. For example, some weeks will require 0 hours and others may require more than 1 hour.
What is the deadline for applications?
The deadline for submitting your application is Friday, December 1, 2023.
When will you be notified about application decisions?
We will notify you of whether your application has been approved by Friday, December 15, 2023.
